Instructions for using PiThrottler

Requirements:

• Raspberry Pi 4 (5 may work as well) any memory amount
• Empty SD card (8GB min)

Steps:

• Download the image here: https://faraday.basschouten.com/mozilla/pithrottler.img.gz
• Use the Raspberry Pi Imager
• Use it to write the image to the SD card
  • Select your Device
  • For operating system, navigate down to ‘Use custom’

* Select your SD card
* Be sure to select ‘NO’ when asked to apply OS customization settings

• Insert the SD card into the Pi4
• Start your raspberry Pi
• Plug the Raspberry Pi into an Ethernet port with a DHCP based (IPv4) internet connection
• Connect to the available ‘PiThrottler’ WiFi, password ‘RogersInABox!’

Usage:

• A web interface is available at http://pithrottler.local/ to configure the WiFi access point
  • Username: admin
  • Password: secret
  • Password can be changed from here.
• Control of the throttling is available at http://pithrottler.local:2121/
  • By default, no throttling is applied
  • A number of presets is available
  • From this interface the throttler can be updated
• You can also SSH into pithrottler.local (port 22)
  • Username: mozilla
  • Password: mozilla
  • The shell password can be changed here
  • If you want to update the software on your pi, for now this is where you do it
